PETALING JAYA: MPs will be required to wear face masks, be screened for body temperature and practise social distancing when the Dewan Rakyat sits again from July 13.

Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said hand sanitisers will also be available.

The coming Dewan Rakyat sitting will last until Aug 27, and this will be followed by the Dewan Negara sitting from Sept 2 to Sept 23.

From members of Parliament (MPs) to government officials and journalists, all will be required to register with the MySejahtera app and have their temperatures taken before being allowed entry, Ismail Sabi said yesterday.

Only MPs and officers will be allowed into the meeting halls while journalists and private nurses can enter the Parliament building.

On a separate matter, Ismail Sabri said the Compliance Operations Task Force had carried out 65,283 inspections on Monday to monitor and enforce compliance to standard operating procedures (SOP) during the recovery movement control order.

He said a police task force checked 4,211 supermarkets, 6,110 restaurants, 2,120 stalls, 1,091 factories, 3,773 banks, 863 government offices, among others.

“Three individuals were nabbed for violating the SOP and were issued compounds.”

Ismail Sabri said police also detained five foreign nationals for immigration offences at 67 roadblocks conducted nationwide to curb the entry of illegal immigrants.

He said 1,146 Malaysians returned on Monday via KLIA from various countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, China, India and Turkey.

Of those, 1,144 were ordered to selfquarantine while the rest were sent to a hospital.

On the inspection of 61 construction sites by the Construction Industry Development Board, 38 were found to have complied with the SOP, 14 failed to comply and the remaining nine were not operating, he said.
