Medical centre cleared to resume operations
ALOR STAR: The Kedah Medical Centre (KMC) has resumed services, including the accident and emergency unit, outpatient clinics, inpatient admissions and operation theatres.
KMC medical director Datuk Dr Kamaruzzaman Ali said operations were resumed after a thorough hospital-wide cleaning and sanitisation exercise was completed.
“The reopening has been approved by the
Kedah Health Department upon the completion of the cleaning process in accordance with the guidelines set by the Health Ministry.
“All 636 employees, medical consultants and outsource workers have also been screened and certified free from infection and have now returned to work,“he said in a statement yesterday.
Sample tests taken from 50 areas of the hospital also showed negative results.
“Early detection and identification of Covid-19 cases only involved the operation theatres, and there has not been any transmission of the infection in other departments,“he said.
KMC operations, except for its haemodialysis centre, had been suspended since Sept 10 after Covid-19 cases were detected in the premises.
All employees who had contact with infected patients were identified and placed in quarantine.
As a precaution, patients are advised to make an appointment for treatment or consultation at the specialist clinic while customers will be able to get their medicines through the “Top Up Medication Home Delivery Services” via 011-1334 8280 from 9am to 5pm. – Bernama
