‘No problem for Bale staying extra year at Spurs’

-

GARETH BALE’S Tottenham Hotspur reunion could well last longer than the 2020/21 campaign.

The Welsh superstar’s agent Jonathan Barnett has revealed how the intention is to at least see Bale stay in north London next season too.

And another deal, be it a second loan or a permanent switch next summer, could suit all parties if the finances can be agreed upon.

“I’m sure that if things really worked out well, we’d have no problem,” Barnett told programme.

“This is the club he wants to play at. I don’t see any problems if he wants another year.

“Hopefully the subject (of returning to Real) won’t come up. He will be so successful at Tottenham he’ll want to stay and it will be a simple deal to do the rest.”

Barnett added that Bale had not been treated with the respect he deserved by the Real Madrid fans.

“In my opinion, he wasn’t treated correctly for somebody who’s done so much for a great club,” Barnett told the BBC.

“I think what the fans did was disgraceful and the club didn’t help. That’s all I really want to get into.”

Manager Jose Mourinho hopes to have Bale available as soon as possible, with the forward currently recovering from injury.

“I don’t know when Gareth can be back,”

Mourinho told the Evening Standard. “The only thing I know is that his motivation is high. He’s so happy to be with the club of his heart, he’s so happy to play for us.

“And when a player has this motivation, many times you can short (reduce) the period of recovery, you can short the period of getting fit and ready to play.

“We’re more than happy to have him and help him back to a level that made him one of the best players in the world.” – Daily Star/Reuters/AFP
