Berjaya Cares Foundation donates van to NCSM

-

PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Cares Foundation has donated a medical mobile screening van to the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) to enhance its vaccination, screening and community outreach programmes.

The van will be utilised by the team at NCSM for its house-tohouse Covid-19 vaccination programme for the severely ill, bedbound patients, the specially-abled, as well as those with cancer and other chronic diseases, who are unable to travel to public vaccination centres.

NCSM teams will be deployed in a systematic, structured manner in identified locations in towns and districts throughout Peninsular Malaysia, and will work with local authorities and non-governmental organisations.

“Berjaya Cares Foundation is happy to be able to do its part to support NCSM, as it carries out mobile vaccination programmes. This initiative will greatly contribute to our recovery process and help the country get on track quicker,” Berjaya Corp Bhd founder and executive chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun said on Saturday.

“One thing we cannot dismiss, is the fact that cancer has not taken a step back due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a matter of fact, it has disrupted cancer care and delayed screening and treatment for many people. We hope to bridge this gap with the mobile screening van, which NCSM will subsequently use to carry out cancer and health screening for the people.”

NCSM president Datuk Dr Saunthari Somasundaram said, “today, we have achieved a great milestone for the Society, courtesy of Berjaya Cares Foundation. This new set of wheels has empowered us to spread our wings in cancer care and do more for the community that we are a part of.”
