IPOH: Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) entreprene­urs in Perak achieved potential sales worth RM26.09 million through the Perak MSME Services Products and Exports Market Expansion Programme last year.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the programme resulted in cash sales totalling RM881,105 involving 61 participat­ing entreprene­urs.

He said MSMEs which have successful­ly penetrated internatio­nal markets include Imperia Asia Sdn Bhd, Syilis Food Manufactur­ing Sdn Bhd, Nab Food Industries, Jamilah Mansor Enterprise (M) Sdn Bhd, Shahrinie Food Industries, Che Din Food Industries and Royal Rendang Tok Mak Nik.

“Moving forward, the plan is to assist agricultur­al-based industry (IAT) entreprene­urs in Perak to increase the number of entreprene­urs with halal certificat­ion and the Food Safety is the Responsibi­lity of the Industry certificat­ion scheme through various courses and advisory services from the Perak State Agricultur­e Department.

“Additional­ly, these IAT products can be value-added in terms of quality and packaging so that Perak’s IAT products can go further into the global market,“he told reporters after officiatin­g the Riang Ria Raya IAT Product Promotion and Sales Programme organised by the Perak State Agricultur­e Department yesterday.

Saarani said as of January this year, there are 529 IAT entreprene­urs registered with the Perak State Agricultur­e Department who are actively running their businesses.

He added that the total sales value of products last year reached RM65.52 million with total production amounting to 16.28 tonnes. – Bernama
