Bangladeshi man hit by car in Birkirkara

-

A 22-yar-old Bangladeshi man has been hospitalised after he was hit by a car in Birkirkara at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon. He was seriously injured but was not in danger of losing his life.

Witnesses said that the man was hit as the car, a Mercedes Benz ML320 being driven by a 53-year-old from Qormi, turned a corner from Psaila Street onto Ġalanton Vassallo Street. The car proceeded to crash into a parked Ford van.

The victim was in the company of three Bangladeshi colleagues, one of whom said that they have been living in Malta for the past five years. He said they came to Malta in 2011 as refugees.

In broken English, he said that he managed to pull back from the road to avoid the car but his colleague was not so lucky. Another colleague, speaking in Italian, said they were afraid when they saw the car coming.
