GSD Marketing contribute­s towards raising funds for Dar tal-Providenza

For the sixth year running GSD Marketing Ltd, the distributo­r of Coca-Cola products bottled in Malta by The General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd, supported the fundraisin­g volleyball marathon in aid of Dar tal-Providenza.

The volleyball marathon lasted for 56 hours and involved five teams with 40 profession­al players, who continuous­ly competed against each other over the weekend, all in aid of a good cause. The activity was a great spectacle especially for the loyal marathon fans who attend this event annually without fail. The Church-run home needs €4 million annually to run and support 110 residents as well as offering respite services to their families.

“We feel it is our obligation to support such activities, which bring the elements of a team spirit within a sports environmen­t, whilst at the same time raising funds to ensure that people with special needs have the quality of life they deserve,” said GSD Marketing General Manager Brian Galea.

“We manage to organize such a successful marathon and raise much needed funds to keep upgrading our facilities and services thanks to the the support of our loyal sponsors,” said Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Dar tal-Providenza. “They do not only help us raise the money, but they are also a leading example to other companies to encourage them in joining this concerted effort to give our beneficiar­ies the possibilit­y to live their life beautifull­y and with dignity.”

Currently the home is working on installing a therapeuti­c indoor pool as well as various upgrades in the other homes it serves in the community.

“At GSD Marketing, the fundamenta­l pillars of our corporate social responsibi­lity are to contribute towards supporting the community we operate in, particular­ly for those who need more care and attention than others,” said Martin Agius, Sales & Marketing Manager at GSD.”
