Bronze for Maltese girls

Malta claimed the bronze medal in the European Under-16 championships Division C held in Andorra, when they crushed Kosovo 61-28 after an outstanding performance.
It was sweet revenge for the Maltese girls led by Sandro Farrugia and Maria Agius, as Malta had lost its openeing match in overtime against Kosovo.
But yesterday the Maltese girls were all over their opponents winning all four quareters.
Kaya Calleja and Michela Zammit Cordina were Malta’s best scorers yesterday with 14 points each, while Kristy Galea was Malta’s overall best scorer in the tournament.
The tournament was won by Georgia who defeated hosts Andorra 54-35 in the final.
The U-16 squad returns Malta today. to
