Going casual for charity – BOV employees supports ‘Dar Kenn għal Saħħtek’

-

BOV employees recently swapped their smartly pressed uniforms and suits to more casual wear with each making a small donation to assist ‘Dar Kenn għal Saħħtek’, the residential facility that provides holistic treatment for patients with eating disorders and weight behavioural problems.

“‘Dress down days’ are our colleagues’ way of giving back something to help charitable organisations,” said Charles Azzopardi, Head PR and Marketing at Bank of Valletta. “We are proud to be here to present this cheque that is the sum of the small donations given by each staff member who participated in this initiative. In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility principles, Bank of Valletta regularly organises these dress down days to raise funds.”

Dr Anton Grech thanked BOV for its initiative and support for Dar Kenn għal Saħħtek. Since the Centre was opened, hundreds of patients have used the services offered. The overall objective of the programme of intensive rehabilitation is to begin or continue a course of treatment aimed at interrupting the growth and maintenance factors of the disorder. An important feature of this approach is the high structuring of treatment that allows a correct evaluation of the results and the possibility of directing therapeutic intervention to the specific needs of the patient and his/her family.

The therapeutic programme involves collaboration among multiple professions who address the various aspects of the problem by cooperating. The programme features highly specialized care and is divided into different stages of care from both a psychological and nutritional aspect.

Dr Grech also mentioned the children’s’ educational summer programme which was held for the first time this year in summer. The Foundation is looking forward to engage in further specialized programmes together with continuous research in the field of eating disorders.
