Real Madrid held at home by in-form Eibar

-

Real Madrid missed the chance to move above Atletico Madrid to the top of La Liga after being held to a 1-1 draw by Eibar in Sunday afternoon's clash at the Bernabeu.

Three points would have taken Los Blancos above their capital rivals ahead of the international break, but a third straight league draw made it another frustrating afternoon for the Madrid giants.

It was Eibar that incredibly made the breakthrough in the sixth minute, however, when Fran Rico's header from an Ander Capa cross found a route through the body of Keylor Navas as the Bernabeu was stunned into silence.

There was not quite an immediate response from Real Madrid, but they were level in the 17th minute when Cristiano Ronaldo delivered a brilliant cross onto the head of Bale, who nodded past Asier Riesgo from close range.

The Bernabeu emptied despite the fourth official putting three
