Island Car Club rocks Mtahleb

Island Car Club's first round of 2016/17 Championsh­ip kicked off last Sunday at one of the favourite Hills, Mtahleb.

The road surface was as good as it possibly could be and all 46 competitor­s flew up the hill in the least possible time. The overall winner was 2012 champion Zach Zammit in his new Urban Jungle Empire Evo clocking an impressive time of 57.098 followed closely by 2014/15 champion Keith Camilleri in his Fracht Malta Radical Pro sport clocking an equally impressive 57.188 and 3rd overall winner was 2013 champion Mark Micallef in his Avon Malta Radical Pro Sport hitting the clock at 57.234.

Fastest 4wd went to Andrew Cassar in his monstrous Attrans Toyota Celica GT4 hitting the clock at 64.839. Fastest fwd went to no stranger to the title Didier Bugeja in his freshly re engineered Snow White Meat Market Peugeot 106 stopping the clock at 65.352. Fastest rwd went to John Zammit in his Rush Sports Audi Powered Lotus Elise clocking 63.145 in the process. Teddy Aquilina took the honours for fastest veteran, driving his Immaculate Cosworth powered Escort to the finish line in 66.705

Island Car club’s round 2 Hillclimb will take place at lovely Xaghra, Gozo on 23 October.

Island Car Club thanked its Marshals and Helpers for their work and last but not least the Rabat Local Council and Mayor Charles Azzopardi for their continuous support together with CPD and Ambulance crew and numerous photograph­ers.
