First wins for Zur­rieq and Melita

In the MSVLIFE Mas­ters League, Melita Celtics and Zur­rieq Wolves reg­is­tered their first win after three games.

In the top clash of the week, Ra­bat Cavette and Marsa White Stars Bar­illa shared the spoils.

After two con­sec­u­tive wins, Ji­val suf­fered a shock de­feat against Melita Celtics 1-4, a team that is show­ing progress with ev­ery game.

Melita gained re­venge for the de­feat they suf­fered against Ji­val in the pre-sea­son tour­na­ment.

It was in the sec­ond half that Melita were able to take the ini­tia­tive to reg­is­ter their first win. Matthew Naudi opened the score for Melita, Ji­val got the draw with a goal from the league top scorer Abugella Wa­hashi.

But from then on Melita were supreme and scored an­other three goals, with An­drew Naudi get­ting a brace.

Zur­rieq Wolves also reg­is­tered their first win, beat­ing Tal-Qroqq 3-2 in an in­ter­est­ing game.

The game was al­most set­tled in the first half when Zur­rieq took a lead 3-1. They de­served to be in front and they might have scored more, but were de­nied by the spec­tac­u­lar saves of goal­keeper Bruce De­bat­tista.

In the sec­ond half Tal-Qroqq scored again, and soon after they got the chance to get even, but Ivan Ca­men­zuli saw his penalty be­ing saved by Ja­son Sci­cluna.

In the top match of the week, Ra­bat Cavette and Marsa White Stars Bar­illa, fin­ished in a 7-7 draw. It-was a game well played in a fast tempo. Ra­bat were reg­is­ter­ing their sec­ond con­sec­u­tive draw.

In the first quar­ter, Marsa went in front 2-0, but after sev­eral at­tempts, Ra­bat man­aged to get even. How­ever, be­fore the break Marsa re­gained the lead 3-2.

In the sec­ond half, play was bal­anced. Marsa were lead­ing 52 and 6-4, but Ra­bat re­acted and got the draw. Both teams scored in the dy­ing stages for a draw which was a fair re­sult.

For Marsa goal­keeper Ge­orge Ed­wards made sev­eral de­cent saves, whilst Kevin Lough­bor­ough, for Ra­bat, scored two good goals.
