First wins for Zurrieq and Melita

In the MSVLIFE Masters League, Melita Celtics and Zurrieq Wolves registered their first win after three games.

In the top clash of the week, Rabat Cavette and Marsa White Stars Barilla shared the spoils.

After two consecutiv­e wins, Jival suffered a shock defeat against Melita Celtics 1-4, a team that is showing progress with every game.

Melita gained revenge for the defeat they suffered against Jival in the pre-season tournament.

It was in the second half that Melita were able to take the initiative to register their first win. Matthew Naudi opened the score for Melita, Jival got the draw with a goal from the league top scorer Abugella Wahashi.

But from then on Melita were supreme and scored another three goals, with Andrew Naudi getting a brace.

Zurrieq Wolves also registered their first win, beating Tal-Qroqq 3-2 in an interestin­g game.

The game was almost settled in the first half when Zurrieq took a lead 3-1. They deserved to be in front and they might have scored more, but were denied by the spectacula­r saves of goalkeeper Bruce Debattista.

In the second half Tal-Qroqq scored again, and soon after they got the chance to get even, but Ivan Camenzuli saw his penalty being saved by Jason Scicluna.

In the top match of the week, Rabat Cavette and Marsa White Stars Barilla, finished in a 7-7 draw. It-was a game well played in a fast tempo. Rabat were registerin­g their second consecutiv­e draw.

In the first quarter, Marsa went in front 2-0, but after several attempts, Rabat managed to get even. However, before the break Marsa regained the lead 3-2.

In the second half, play was balanced. Marsa were leading 52 and 6-4, but Rabat reacted and got the draw. Both teams scored in the dying stages for a draw which was a fair result.

For Marsa goalkeeper George Edwards made several decent saves, whilst Kevin Loughborou­gh, for Rabat, scored two good goals.
