Zejtun drop first points of season against Mgarr

In a pulsating match at the Sirens Stadium, Zejtun Corinthian­s dropped their first points of the season when they drew 2-2 with Mgarr United.

Kumpei Tanaka gave Zejtun the lead after 18 minutes but Mgarr struck back on 67 minutes through Matthew Agius and on 70 minutes with Lazar Doric.

Anthony Ewurun finally equalised for Zejtun on 79 minutes.

San Gwann moved to third place when they beat Zabbar St Patrick by a solitary goal scored by Williams Abeed from the penalty spot on 58 minutes.

Marsaxlokk returned to winning ways when they easily beat Gudja United by three goals to nil. Sergio Hili scored a brace on 31 and 90 minutes with the other goal coming from Marlon Grech on 89 minutes.

Siggiewi beat St George’s by two goals to one in the second match at the Charles Abela Stadium. Jason Camilleri put Siggiewi ahead on 9 minutes with Didier Sohna doubling on 64 minutes. Aaron Hili pulled one back for St George’s but it was not enough to gain anything from the encounter.

Attard slumped to another defeat when they went down to a Lesley Cassar Jackson goal against Birzebbuga in the first match at the Luxol Stadium.

Qrendi advanced to joint first when they hammered Ghaxaq 6-0 in the second match at the Sirens Stadium. The goals came through a hat trick by Giovanni Galea, a brace from Dasser Sammut and another strike by Dhonatan Santos da Hora.

In the Friday night match, Swieqi United beat Mellieha by three goals to nil. Patrick Briscoe White scored a brace on 3 and 95 minutes, the latter from the penalty spot with Kenneth Ezekie scoring the other on 74 minutes.
