Draw in pul­sat­ing en­counter in game of the week

In the game of the week St Lu­cia and St Ven­era Light­nings drew 2-2 in a pul­sat­ing en­counter at the Sirens Sta­dium.

St Ven­era went ahead after just 40 sec­onds through Dy­lan Mer­cieca but St Lu­cia turned the game around with two goals by Alex Cauchi on 13 and 18 min­utes. Nigel Re­falo equalised for St Ven­era nine min­utes from time.

Luqa St An­drew’s con­tin­ued climb­ing up the ta­ble when they beat Ta’ Xbiex in the first match at the Luxol Sta­dium. An­drew Sciortino put Luqa ahead after 45 min­utes with Jethron Az­zopardi equal­is­ing for Ta’ Xbiex on 72 min­utes. Leroy Bon­nett scored the win­ning goal for Luqa on 86 min­utes.

Kalkara main­tained their 100% record when they beat Md­ina Knights by two goals to nil in the first match at the Charles Abela Sta­dium. Ryan Sell put Kalkara ahead after 52 min­utes from the penalty spot with Jonathan Scerri seal­ing the is­sue on 83 min­utes.

Msida St Joseph also moved to the top of the ta­ble along­side Kalkara when they eas­ily beat Xgha­jra Tor­na­does by three goals to nil in the sec­ond match at the Sirens Sta­dium.

Zamora Dario scored a brace with Glanville Goodlip adding an­other mid­way through the sec­ond half. Dingli Swal­lows crushed Marsaskala, who are firmly in bot­tom place with no points, by four goals to nil.

Luke Galea scored a brace for Dingli with the other goals com­ing through Kayne Said and An­drew Scerri.

In the South Western derby, Kirkop United beat Zur­rieq by three goals to nil. The goals came from Fabian Fon­seca, Karl Caru­ana and Fabian Caru­ana.
