Postcodes to be considered integral part of postal address

The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) has launched a public consultation entitled Postcodes to be Considered as an Integral Part of a Postal Address.

When a postcode is included in a postal address, postal sorting and delivery are greatly facilitated, increasing the efficiency of the postal operator. Postal items not carrying a postcode will still be processed, but the inclusion of a postcode reduces the chance of mis-deliveries and other delivery-related errors. The consultation also proposes a number of requirements on the part of the universal provider (MaltaPost) to ensure the availability and increase awareness of postcode information.

The consultation paper may be viewed on the MCA website at www.mca.org.mt and the consultation period will run until Friday, 11 November.
