Dejan Mikalovic appointed Sirens ASC nursery head coach
Sirens ASC have appointed Dejan Milakovic as the club’s waterpolo nursery head coach. He will be responsible for the club’s junior teams within the ambit of a strategic plan that is expected to ensure a technically solid, sustainable and successful future for the Club.
Milakovic will be joining us in the coming days and will be taking over the training programmes after the necessary consultations together with club’s head coach Sergio Afric.
Milakovic’s appointment witnesses the club’s ambition, and determination in continuing to invest in technical staff of the highest level, with particular emphasis on the development of in-house talent.
In this respect, the club is confident that the vast experience, both domestic and international, of Milakovic will be instrumental in the club’s pursuit of its medium and long term objectives.
Milakovic has been involved in the sport for many years, with a high-level professional career both in playing and coaching waterpolo.
He is also a graduate of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education from the University of Belgrade. Throughout his career he played for VK Partizan, VK Beograd and VK Red Star of Belgrade as well as a national team career with all the youth national teams of SR Yugoslavia.
In his coaching career, Milakovic was responsible for the Youth Sector - U/13 and U/15 VK Redstar - Belgrade leading the U/15 team to champions of Serbia, U/15 and U/17 VK Singidunum - Belgrade, Head Coach of VK Singidunum – Belgrade.
Milakovic also had an international coaching experience with Pro Recco – Italy, where as an assistant coach Pro Recco won the honours for the Italian Cup, Italian Championship and Champions League in 2015.
After this success, he moved on as head coach of Sliema ASC.
On a national team level he was assistant coach for U/17 Serbia, coach U/15 Serbia (2 times Gold Medal winners Darko Cukic tournament), assistant coach U/19 Serbia (placing 3rd – bronze medal - World Championship in Perth Australia, coach U/17 Serbia during the European Championship in Malta placing 2nd (silver medal).
Sirens is renowned for its youth talent and with Milakovic’s contribution, the club is looking forward to enhancing even further its leadership in the various youth sections.
The club is determined to move from strength to strength through this new appointment.
