Voda­fone all’Am­a­tri­ciana in sup­port of quake vic­tims

Voda­fone Malta em­ploy­ees pre­sented the Ital­ian Am­bas­sador with a re­ceipt for €1,000, fuind that were raised by staff in sup­port of the vic­tims left be­hind fol­low­ing the dev­as­tat­ing earth­quake.

At least 290 peo­ple died in last Au­gust’s 6.2 mag­ni­tude earth­quake which hit the re­gions of Lazio and Le Marche bor­der­ing Um­bria.

A few weeks fol­low­ing the tragedy, mem­bers from Voda­fone’s so­cial events com­mit­tee bus­ied them­selves with or­gan­is­ing a pasta all’Am­a­tri­ciana lunch for their fel­low col­leagues. The Malta In­ter­na­tional Air­port can­teen was roped in to serve up the Ital­ian spe­cial­ity pasta and sauce, which hails from the town of Ama­trice badly hit by the earth­quake.

Pro­ceeds from the sale of the pasta, which amounted to €500, were do­nated to the Lazio re­gion’s earth­quake relief fund. The Voda­fone Malta Foun­da­tion also do­nated a fur­ther €500, bring­ing the to­tal amount up to €1,000.

Ital­ian Am­bas­sador Gio­vanni Um­berto De Vito re­cently paid a visit to the Voda­fone Malta of­fices at SkyParks Busi­ness Cen­tre, Luqa, where he was pre­sented with the re­ceipt of the do­na­tion.

Am­bas­sador De Vito ex­pressed his grat­i­tude to­wards Voda­fone Malta em­ploy­ees, adding that he was struck by the Mal­tese peo­ple’s gen­er­ous spirit and sup­port to­wards neigh­bour­ing Italy.
