Qormi obtained their third consecutive victory beating Melita thanks to a well taken goal by substitute Lawrence Chiedozie.

The ex-Rabat striker scored with an overhead kick to give Qormi a deserved victory in a game that only came to life in the last quarter when Melita obtained the draw from the penalty spot.

This victory lifts Qormi further up in the table and pushes Melita in deep relegation trouble.

The game played in difficult weather conditions failed to lift off and was scrappy at times, especially in the opening 20 minutes.

On 22 Camilleri Michael created havoc in the Melita penalty area and Noah Ojuola’s shot from close range was brilliantly blocked by Grima.

Three minutes later an Alan Abela miskick inadvertedly served Guzman who should have done better, but he blasted well over the bar when well placed.

On 34 minutes Qormi almost took the lead when another Alan Abela clearance from midfield was craftly directed by the fierce wind towards the top corner, but Grima was on the alert to save the danger.

But Grima had to give up four minutes later when Darko Medic managed to control the ball and flick towards the top corner to put Qormi in front.

Ten minutes into the second half Noah Ojuola dribbled past a couple of defenders but his effort went off target. On 69 minutes a Russo drive was handled by a Qormi defender with referee Grech awarding the penalty, and from which Ivan Tufegdzic made no mistake sending Balzan the wrong way.

Three minutes from time Grima effected a great save off a Mark Barbara first timer and from the resultant corner substitute Lawrence Chiedozie scored a great goal with an overhead kick.
