Pieta recover lost winning touch

-

After suffering three consecutive defeats, Pieta returned to winning ways easily beating Fgura United in a one sided affair.

After a slow start Pieta dominated and could have even obtained a bigger victory.

Pieta were aggressive at the start and had some shots at goal, but their high spirits quickly faded out with the match scrappy at times.

Dylan Agius had a shot from the edge of the area going inches wide and at the other end goalkeeper Chircop charged out of position to block Defex Marriaga. On 31 minutes Pieta took the lead when from a Mead Mifsud freekick from the left, Juan Manuel Ruiz Perez anticipated Bartolo to head home.

Six minutes from the break Pieta went close a second goal but Dimitrov’s point blank shot was blocked by Bartolo.

But in stoppage time Pieta doubled the score with a perfectly carved set piece, with Mead Mifsud’s corner first timed beautifully home by Neil Pace Cocks.

On the resumption Pieta easily controlled their two-goal cushion and went close a third goal on 68 minutes when a point blank header by Dimitrov was brilliantly saved by Bartolo.

But on 77 minutes Pieta put the game to bed with a third goal when substitute Scicluna passed towards Dimitrov who rounded a defender before putting at the back of the net.
