The eastern seg­ment of the Vic­to­ria Lines

The next Din l-Art Ħelwa lec­ture is be­ing held on 10 Novem­ber, at 6.30pm in the Judge Caru­ana Cur­ran Hall at Din l-Art Ħelwa’s premises, 133, Melita Street, Val­letta.

It is en­ti­tled: ‘The Eastern Seg­ment of the Vic­to­ria Lines’.

It will be de­liv­ered by two friends who are en­thu­si­asts of Malta’s mil­i­tary his­tory – Prof. An­thony Bo­nanno, ar­chae­ol­o­gist and Re­tired Judge Joseph Galea De­bono whose in­ter­est in mil­i­tary lies at the root of their ex­cur­sions around Malta in search of in­ter­est­ing mil­i­tary sites.

To­gether they have made a thor­ough sur­vey of the whole length of the Vic­to­ria Lines and have been shar­ing their knowl­edge dur­ing talks at Din l-Art Ħelwa.

This time they will be show­ing im­ages and de­scrib­ing the de­tails of the Eastern seg­ment of the Vic­to­ria Lines. They will fo­cus on var­i­ous fea­tures of ar­chae­o­log­i­cal and ar­chi­tec­tural in­ter­est, rang­ing from cart ruts, dol­mens, Pu­nic and PalaeoChris­tian tombs to more re­cent ar­chi­tec­tural fea­tures.

The talk will be de­liv­ered in English and is free of charge. How­ever, do­na­tions to Din l-Art Ħelwa are ap­pre­ci­ated.
