Eight arrested in separate drug raids over weekend

Eight people have been arrested over the weekend in separate raids conducted by the police drug squad.

The police said that four of the arrested persons, aged between 15 and 21, were arrested in Marsascala after they were caught with cannabis and cannabis resin.

In another case, the police are holding a man, aged 26, who was caught with cocaine in a bar in Żejtun.

Two men aged 20 and 35 were arrested in Paceville, with the 20year-old being found with 100 ecstasy pills and cocaine sachets ready to be sold. Further investigations led the police to a garage in Attard where a substantial amount of cannabis was discovered. The 35-year-old was caught with an amount of cocaine.

The eighth arrest was made at the airport, where a 22-year-old was arrested with 3.4 kilogrammes of khat.
