Spiro Mizzi Foundation refurbishes rooms at Parrocca Katekizmu San Lawrenz, Birgu
Last month, Fr Joe Mizzi and Chev. Maurice Mizzi, on behalf of the Spiro Mizzi Foundation, celebrated the launch of two very important recreational rooms for the students of the Centru tal-Katekizmu Parrocca San Lawrenz in Birgu. The centre is very important to the community of Birgu, as it provides children with a place of worship, recreation and sense of belonging after a day at school.
Being such an important centre in the three cities, The Spiro Mizzi Foundation believed that it was imperative to invest in the classrooms to enhance the experience of the children and allow them to grow positively. The Foundation invested a total of €8,500 in the refurbishment of two important recreational rooms − Kamra tat-talb and Kamra ghall-adoloxxenti.
The two new rooms provide the children with a holistic experience that focuses on religious, social, humanistic, educational as well as cultural values that in turn help these children grow spiritually, mentally and physically. It is an education centre where these children can experience a true sense of belonging.
The latest technological equipment has been installed in both the newly refurbished rooms, to encourage children to interact and engage during classes.
Fr Mizzi thanked Chev. Mizzi and The Spiro Mizzi Foundation for the generous support given to the children and continued by stating: “It is a blessing to find generous individuals who are ready to support the future and growth of our children.” The Parrocca Katekizmu San Lawrenz in Birgu currently has 130 children attending its classes every afternoon and enjoying the two newly refurbished state-of-the-art rooms. Moreover, 30 teenagers have also started to use the refurbished classrooms.
The Spiro Mizzi Foundation is a non-profit organisation in Malta. The foundation was set up by the president of the Mizzi Organisation, Chev. Mizzi, to support and honour the new generations born and living in Cottonera and the surrounding harbour area – the birth place of his late father, Spiridone Mizzi. Chev. Mizzi set up the Spiro Mizzi Foundation to help less fortunate children from this area benefit from the same opportunities other children may have in other parts of Malta in the academic field.
