Futsal season starts on Friday

The season will get under way on Friday with the final of the Super Cup between champions Valletta and the KO winners Luxol.

The match is to be played at the Corradino Pavilion, starting at 8pm.

Fifteen clubs, among them five new, will be taking part in the championsh­ip which is to be held over two rounds.

At the end of the first round, the first five teams will qualify for the Elite round which leads to the playoffs. The rest of the teams will play in the first division round.

Champions Valletta’s first commitment in defence of their title will be against Marsaskala. Swieqi FC’s Under 21 team is taking part for the first time.

The associatio­n is now working from its new offices in St Venera – space kindly offered by the firm Konica Minolta.

The associatio­n has also announced the staging of two internatio­nal matches in preparatio­n for the forthcomin­g UEFA Futsal Euro qualifiers next January.

The matches will be played on 5 and 6 December with the opposition being offered by San Marino.
