Zejtun win and join Qrendi at the top

Zejtun joined Qrendi at the top of the table when they beat Birzebbuga St Peter’s by two goals to one in the second match at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Anthony Ewurum and Adrian Carabott scored for Zejtun while John Micallef replied for the Saints.

San Gwann kept up the pace just behind the two leading teams when they beat Swieqi United by four goals to two in the first match at the Sirens Stadium.

Stacy Vella put San Gwann ahead after 8 minutes but Patrick Briscoe White equalized after 11 minutes. Kenneth Ezekie put Swieqi ahead after 55 minutes but Williams Abeed equalized two minutes later, Jan Tanti put San Gwann ahead after 76 minutes and Ryan Zammit sealed the issue in stoppage time.

In the first match at the Luxol Stadium, Mellieha registered their first win when they beat Mgarr United by two goals to nil in the Northern derby. Shamison Farrugia and Michael Micallef scored on 52 and 67 minutes respective­ly.

Zabbar rose to fourth in the table with a fine win over Siggiewi whom they beat 3-1 in the second match at the Luxol Stadium. Jean Claude Cesare gave Zabbar the lead after just 4 minutes with Samuel Vella making it 1-1 on 74 minutes. Christian Briffa put Zabbar ahead again on 80 minutes while Gabriel Bonavia sealed the points for Zabbar on 89 minutes.

Attard returned to winning ways when they beat Ghaxaq by two goals to one in the first match at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Kurt Zahra opened the scoring from a penalty with Matthew Bajada making it 2-0 in added time. Ghaxaq pulled one back through Mark Ellul a minute later.

St George’s registered an important win when they beat Marsaxlokk through an Aaron Hili goal in the first half. In the Friday night match, Qrendi hammered Gudja 4-0 with goals coming from Dhonathan Santos da Hora, Giovanni Galea, Ryan Micallef and Josuel Spiteri.
