St Ven­era con­sol­i­date top place with fine win

St Ven­era Light­nings con­firmed their sta­tus at the top of the BOV Di­vi­sion Three ta­ble with a fine 2-0 win over Zur­rieq in the sec­ond match at the Sirens Sta­dium.

Ty­rone Grech opened the scor­ing af­ter 39 min­utes with Dan­jel Va­sic adding an­other 13 min­utes from time.

Kalkara also main­tained their un­beaten run with a slen­der 1-0 vic­tory over Mtarfa. The win­ning goal came from a Timmy Thomas penalty af­ter 14 min­utes.

Xgha­jra Tor­na­dos reg­is­tered their sec­ond win on the trot when they beat Dingli Swal­lows by two goals to nil in the first match at the Luxol Sta­dium. Dy­lan Busut­til opened the scor­ing on 50 min­utes with Reuter De­gior­gio adding an­other on 75 min­utes.

Md­ina Knights re­turned to win­ning ways with a hard fought vic­tory over Ta’ Xbiex in the first match at the Sirens Sta­dium. Dy­lan Mintoff opened the scor­ing on the half hour but Ta’ Xbiex equalised through Joel Felice while Matthew Fenech scored the win­ner for Md­ina on 52 min­utes.

In an ac­tion packed match at the Luxol Sta­dium, St Lu­cia and Msida St Joseph shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Se­bas­tian Per­domo put St Lu­cia ahead on 17 min­utes but two goals by Dar­ren Caru­ana on 26 and 67 min­utes turned the match around in favour of Msida. How­ever, four min­utes later, sub­sti­tute Mi­lan Milovi­jiev scored the equaliser for St Lu­cia.

Luqa St An­drews edged out bot­tom placed side Marsaskala in an ex­cit­ing 3-2 vic­tory although the Saints should have put the match to bed far ear­lier. Den­nis Syt­nik and Leroy Bon­nett put Luqa two goals ahead but Jur­gen Cachia and Salah Hamed, from the penalty spot, equal­ized for Marsaskala. Ja­son Good scored the win­ner for Luqa on 71 min­utes.
