Free blood glucose monitoring for the public

The Maltese Diabetes Association recently offered free diabetes tests for the general public on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, which is celebrated around the world on 14 November. The event was held at the Plaza Shopping Centre in Sliema.

The general public responded wholeheartedly and hundreds availed themselves of this offer to get tested for diabetes.

The event was also attended by President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, Dr Chris. Fearne, Minister for Health; Dr Simon Busuttil, Leader of the Opposition and Claudette Buttigieg, Shadow

Minister for Health. All dignitaries supported the event by taking a diabetes test themselves.

The event was organised by the Maltese Diabetes Association with the support of the Diabetes & Endocrine Centre at Mater Dei Hospital, ATG Limited, Gasan-Mamo Insurance Limited, Technoline Limited, Sanofi, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Charles Darmanin Limited and Plaza Centres plc.

A free give-away consisting of a healthy breakfast pack and other promotional material was distributed to all those who attended the event.
