BOV and PwC collaborat­e for the 4th edition of the Family Business Forum

Bank of Valletta and PwC have announced the fourth edition of the Family Business Forum which addresses the internatio­nalisation of family businesses in Malta. The event will take place at the Xara Lodge l/o Rabat on Thursday 17 November.

“Seeking growth beyond our borders” is the theme chosen for this year’s edition. The event will focus on internatio­nalisation prospects from the family business perspectiv­e, supported by interventi­ons by experts from PwC and Bank of Valletta. Entreprene­urs from leading family businesses will also bring the players’ voices to the discussion table. The Forum will continue building knowledge while raising awareness about the sector’s realities. Previous editions have addressed other key concerns such as corporate governance, financial reporting, sustainabl­e growth and the profession­alization of family business.

Kevin Valenzia, PwC’s Territory Senior Partner will open the event, while Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business Chris Cardona will deliver the keynote speech. The PwC Family Business Survey 2016 will be presented by Michael Ganado, Advisory Partner at PwC, who will also be drawing comparison­s between family businesses in Malta and their peers globally. Carmel Borg, Head Trade Finance at Bank of Valletta will be tapping into his 30 years’ experience in Trade Finance to discuss the avoidance and mitigation of risks associated with cross border trade. Mario Mallia, the bank’s CEO will close this year’s edition. A panel discussion featuring two leading family business owners, the Trade Malta CEO and a tax expert will address the subject from a practical approach.
