BOV and PwC col­lab­o­rate for the 4th edi­tion of the Fam­ily Busi­ness Fo­rum

Bank of Val­letta and PwC have an­nounced the fourth edi­tion of the Fam­ily Busi­ness Fo­rum which ad­dresses the in­ter­na­tion­al­i­sa­tion of fam­ily busi­nesses in Malta. The event will take place at the Xara Lodge l/o Ra­bat on Thurs­day 17 Novem­ber.

“Seek­ing growth be­yond our bor­ders” is the theme cho­sen for this year’s edi­tion. The event will fo­cus on in­ter­na­tion­al­i­sa­tion prospects from the fam­ily busi­ness per­spec­tive, sup­ported by in­ter­ven­tions by ex­perts from PwC and Bank of Val­letta. En­trepreneurs from lead­ing fam­ily busi­nesses will also bring the play­ers’ voices to the dis­cus­sion ta­ble. The Fo­rum will con­tinue build­ing knowl­edge while rais­ing aware­ness about the sec­tor’s re­al­i­ties. Pre­vi­ous edi­tions have ad­dressed other key con­cerns such as cor­po­rate gov­er­nance, fi­nan­cial re­port­ing, sus­tain­able growth and the pro­fes­sion­al­iza­tion of fam­ily busi­ness.

Kevin Valen­zia, PwC’s Ter­ri­tory Se­nior Part­ner will open the event, while Min­is­ter for the Econ­omy, In­vest­ment and Small Busi­ness Chris Car­dona will de­liver the key­note speech. The PwC Fam­ily Busi­ness Sur­vey 2016 will be pre­sented by Michael Ganado, Ad­vi­sory Part­ner at PwC, who will also be draw­ing com­par­isons be­tween fam­ily busi­nesses in Malta and their peers glob­ally. Carmel Borg, Head Trade Fi­nance at Bank of Val­letta will be tap­ping into his 30 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence in Trade Fi­nance to dis­cuss the avoid­ance and mit­i­ga­tion of risks as­so­ci­ated with cross bor­der trade. Mario Mal­lia, the bank’s CEO will close this year’s edi­tion. A panel dis­cus­sion fea­tur­ing two lead­ing fam­ily busi­ness own­ers, the Trade Malta CEO and a tax ex­pert will ad­dress the sub­ject from a prac­ti­cal ap­proach.
