DIVISION 1

Mosta HB A- Kalkara SJ 2-6 Gameweek 4 saw two title contenders face each other in division one, with Kalkara St Joseph securing the points with a 6-2 away victory.

After two games the score was level with Kirsten Aquilina winning for the visitors and Albert Scerri for Mosta.

The next three games were crucial in deciding the outcome of this match with Kalkara winning all three which meant securing a minimum of a draw. Chris Cohen and Andy Keen winning in the singles and K.Aquilina/Stanmore in the doubles.

Brian Abela gave the home side a glimmer of hope by reducing the score to 2-4, but a strong finish by the visitors secured all points with wins coming from Stanmore and Keen/Ciantar in the doubles.

Next week will not feature any national league matches due to the Malta Internatio­nal Open scheduled between 15-17 November, with matches returning on 25 November which includes a mouth-watering clash between Kalkara SJ and Floriana Ajax A, two teams on maximum points in the top division.

DIVISION 2

Cospicua R-Hamrun EB A 7-1 In division two, Cospicua Rangers comfortabl­y defeated Hamrun Education Bar A in a top of the table clash. All square after two games with Antnick Bugeja winning for the hosts and Mario Tonna for the visitors.

From that point onwards, Rangers took control and managed to win all the remaining six games to secure all 3 points which meant that these two teams now still together on top of the table with 9 points followed by Floriana Ajax B on 8 points. T

he wins for Cospicua came from Martin Debono, Andre Zammit, George Mizzi, Melchior Farrugia in the singles and Bugeja/Debono and Mizzi/Farrugia in the doubles.
