Ex­plor­ing the Idea of a Post-Hu­man­ist Univer­sity

Next Tues­day 29 Novem­ber WIPSS will be col­lab­o­rat­ing on a Joint Sym­po­sium with Utopian Pasts - Utopian Fu­tures? 500 Years af­ter Thomas More's Utopia (1516), con­vened by the De­part­ments of English, Ger­man and Phi­los­o­phy.

This sym­po­sium is a fol­low-up to the WIPSS sem­i­nar of 31 May given by Prof. Ivan Cal­lus en­ti­tled Con­trol, Au­topoiesis and the Idea of the Posthu­man­ist Univer­sity. His pa­per on that oc­ca­sion at­tracted great in­ter­est, so we have de­cided to ex­plore fur­ther his ideas in this fol­low-up sym­po­sium.

Ivan Cal­lus (English) will sum­ma­rize his May pa­per and of­fer some fur­ther thoughts. Paul Clough (An­thro­po­log­i­cal Sci­ences) will give his re­ac­tion to the May pa­per. James Corby (English) will re­spond with ideas of his own. Jean-Paul De Lucca (Cen­tre for the Lib­eral Arts and Sci­ences) will chair the event.
