Mdina Glass sets up 7-metre Christmas tree in Valletta

-

The Christmas season has officially begun for Mdina Glass with the annual re-appearance of the glassmaker’s ever-popular seven-metre Christmas tree and the start of the Mdina Glass Open Week pre-Christmas sale.

Just like last year, the Christmas tree, which is made from over 2,000 mouth-blown glass baubles of varying colours and sizes, attached to an inner structure, has been installed on Republic Street in front of the parliament building and forms part of the Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture programme. The location is perfect as the tree welcomes visitors arriving in Valletta via the city gate with an overwhelming sense of seasonal cheer.

Close to the tree, at the Pjazza Teatru Rjal façade (site of the old opera house) is a seasonal Mdina Glass Christmas shop selling handmade baubles, ornamental Christmas trees, hanging cribs, lanterns and more. A share of the proceeds from this outlet will be donated to id-Dar tal-Providenza.

The Mdina Glass Open Week continues through to 13 December at all 8 of the artisan’s official outlets. All glassware is discounted with up to 75% off selected items and there are also great prizes to be won including a weekend break for two at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa, Attard. An online sale, with 15% off all orders of €50 or more, is also running for same period on www.mdinaglass.com.mt with worldwide shipping available.
