St John Rescue Corps Recruitment Day
St John Rescue Corps is organising a ‘Recruitment Day’ at its Headquarters and Training School at Fort Madalena in Madliena today between 11am and 5pm.
Anyone who is interested in rescue activities and volunteering with the St John Rescue Corps is invited to attend this event to see volunteers undergoing training and view rescue equipment. During the event, attendees will be able to discuss volunteering opportunities with Corps’ Officers.
On Saturday 14th January, a training programme targeted towards volunteers interested in performing firefighting prevention and emergency duties will commence. In addition to firefighting skills, recruits will develop skills in: first aid, automated external defibrillator, stretcher handling, compass & mapping and radio voice procedure.
The training sessions will be held twice a week: every Saturday between 2pm and 6pm and every Wednesday evening between 7pm and 9pm. Most of the training will be held at Fort Madalena, in Madliena.
In addition to firefighting, the St John Rescue Corps offers volunteering opportunities in water lifesaving, urban search and rescue, maintenance, public relations, fundraising, logistics, ICT and administrative duties.
Members of the general public who are over 18 years old and interested in joining the St John Rescue Corps are invited to attend the ‘Recruitment Day’ or visit Fort Madalena on any Saturday between 2pm and 6pm.
