Former PN MP says Salvu Mallia is ‘a liability’, Mallia replies in colourful language

-

Former PN MP Philip Mifsud yesterday added his voice to the chorus of disapproval for the Nationalist Party’s decision to accept outspoken Salvu Mallia on its candidates list, with the former TVM presenter replying in colourful language.

The exchange took place on Sunday evening on Facebook.

Earlier in the day, Mr Mifsud, who was elected in 2008 but did not keep his place in Parliament in the 2013 election, had replied to an interview with Mr Mallia that was published on a newspaper on Sunday, saying “I do not think that the PN should silence you... I think that the PN should simply ask you to leave if you persist with this attitude!”

In the interview, Mr Mallia had said that he would walk away if an attempt was made by the PN to stop him from saying what he wants to say.

Later, after the Opposition Leader had defended Mr Mallia while he was addressing a PN crowd on Sunday morning in Hamrun, Mr Mifsud picked up the subject again, adding fuel to the fire.

“In the meantime the Leader of the Opposition keeps on giving him more power.

“Dear Simon, this is not an issue of letting someone to freely express himself. This issue deals with the way HE expresses himself and the level of the blackmailing dose one finds in each of his expressions. He will not change. If he blackmails now, when he is ‘just’ an election candidate, he will definitively blackmail once he is an MP. And once an MP, he will have power! We lived this already! Cut him loose. He is not an asset (if he were, he would have been a dangerous asset). He is a liability.”

Salvu Mallia was quick to reply this time, using colourful language and telling Mr Mifsud that under Joseph Muscat “everyone speaks the same language and votes for corruption because the leader says so”.
