Son raising funds to fulfil father’s dying wish of sending his ashes to Malta

-

A man is raising money to fulfil his father’s dying wish of sending his ashes to Malta, the Torquay Herald Express reports.

Emmanuel Camilleri, 64, died last week after 15 years of battling illness.

He lived with his family in Paignton, Devon, England, for the last 20 years, where he worked at Torbay Council before an accident made him too ill to work.

Emmanuel was admitted to hospital on Christmas Day, and died just days after his 64th birthday.

Now, his son Danny is raising money to pay for his funeral, and to send his ashes to Malta as per his last wish.

Danny said: “Our beloved Dad, Emmanuel Camilleri, or Manny to everyone who knew him, was a very kind man who gave all his time to others helping out anyway he could.

“He didn’t have many material possessions and gave everything he had to others and therefore has not left a will behind.

“We have spoken to a funeral director to arrange his funeral and cremation, we hope to fly his ashes back to his much loved Malta where he hoped to be laid to rest.

“We’re all trying to chip in as much as we can. It’s an emotional time, and we’re under a lot of stress, but that’s normal under the circumstances. We’re just trying to give him the send of he deserves.

“The cost of the funeral and cremation is quoted at about £3,000 and whilst we are putting our own savings towards this we would really appreciate any donation you can make.”
