Dingli at the top

Dingli’s march for the second consecutiv­e league title continue, despite missing such good players as William Borg last season’s top scorer and Jeffrey Gauci another marksman, Dingli beat Melita 11-1 to go top of the standings of MSV LIFE MASTERS LEAGUE after six games. The champions have a good squad and still had the services of the experience­d players Malcolm Licari, Carlo Mamo ad Charlo Magro.

Up to the end of the first half, Melita were playing welland made it very difficult for Dingli and also having the returning goalkeeper Sean Sullivan who was playing his first game this season, denying Dingli on several occasions. Melita missed the services of Brian Said. Dingli’s goalkeeper also had a good first half making some very spectacula­r saves.

However in the second half Melita lost all concentrat­ion and Dingli dominated throughout scoring nine goals and could have made it more.For Dingli, Malcolm Licari was the top player scoring no less than 5 goals.

Marsa White Stars registered their second win when beating Valletta 13-6 to continue their chase for a place in the first six for the second phase. Valetta gave much as their opponents until ten minutes from the end of the first half when they suffered three consecutiv­e goals to go for the break losing 6-3.

In the second half they started well scoring twice . However after geting the score 8-6, Marsa dominated the last 13 minutes getting five consecutiv­e goals with Valetta losing all touch. Rubert Mangion, Aaron Pendry and Fabio Gauci were the pick for Marsa scoring three goals each, as did Liam Vidal and Manuel Galea for Valletta.

In the game of the week, B’KARA were good enough to beat the challenge of Zabbar Masters 6-3, a game that was played in continuous rain. B’Kara who started the game with five players, where only joined with their sixth player after ten minutes.

A more challengin­g opposition was expected from Zabbar. Thee defeat means that it will be more difficult now to finish with the first six for the second phase. The game was almost settled in the first half when B’Karatook a lead of 4-0. However after the break, Zabbar came more into the picture and till the end made it respectabl­e defeat with a score of 6-3. Mark Deguara was B’Kasra’s best scorer with three.
