Sirens Fgura U 2 0

Sirens returned to winning ways beating Fgura United with a Christian Caruana brace, one in each half.

Sirens deserved their victory as they were dominant especially in the opening stages of the match.

Fgura had a good reaction in the second half enjoying the lion’s share of the exchanges, but they were found lacking in front of goal and Sirens goalkeeper Vella had a rather quiet afternoon.

Sirens forged ahead after only three minutes play when Christian Caruana dribbled past a defender inside the box to fire low into the corner of the net with a shot on the turn.

Nine minutes later Sirens were unlucky when a Miguel Ciantar freekick smashed against the crossbar.

On 14 minutes, Miguel Ciantar again tried his luck from the edge of the area but his shot went slightly over the bar.Fgura’s first attempt came on 21 minutes with a Matthew Gauci effort going slightly wide.

On 28 minutes a Newuche header from a Ciantar freekick just missed the target and on the other end Okpokwu missed a great chance when he nipped in between a defender and the goalkeeper but his shot missed the target.

The second half started with Miguel Ciantar missing a good opportunity for Sirens and on the other end an Okpokwu header went wide.

On 59 minutes Fgura went close when a Matthew Gauci shot was cleared off the goal line by Daniel Sant.

On 72 minutes Sirens put the game to bed when substitute Robert Vaduva had a good run on the right and crossed towards Christian Caruana who kept his cool to plant the ball at the back of the net.

Sirens were now on velvet and Bartolo avoided a third goal when he saved a Miguel Ciantar point blank header.
