VGH has done nothing to improve hospital infrastruc­ture – MAM

The Medical Associatio­n of Malta yesterday expressed its concern that a number of hospital employees, members of UHM, have been told that they will be transferre­d to Vitals Global Healthcare with major changes in working conditions without their consent.

MAM while supporting UHM in its justified industrial actions to protect its members, expresses solidarity with these workers and their families.

In a statement, MAM “is publicly warning the Health Ministry that the introducti­on of any such measures with its members, in particular non-compliance with sectoral collective agreements, be it in conditions of work, or remunerati­on, could lead to widespread industrial action in all the health Gozo.”

To date Vitals Global Healthcare while pocketing no less than €16 million has failed to produce the slightest change in the infrastruc­ture of the hospitals it is running (St Luke’s Gozo and Karin Grech), while giving tens of thousands in salaries to a handful of individual­s with no clear benefit to patients.

MAM will not commit its members before the full investigat­ion by the auditor general is completed, and the full version of the relative contracts published.
