Easy 2-0 win for Zabbar St Patrick

Zabbar St Patrick continued marching on with an easy 2-0 victory against bottom side Ghaxaq in the first match at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Samuel Buhagiar and Jean Claude Cesare, the latter from a penalty, scored the deciding goals.

Attard moved a step closer to safety when they beat Marsaxlokk by a solitary goal in the first match at the Luxol Stadium.

Gabriel Buttigieg scored the winning goal after 22 minutes.

Mgarr United also put some daylight between themselves and the bottom three with a hard fought 1-0 win over Gudja United. Lazar Doric scored the winner direct from a freekick on 38 minutes.

Qrendi continued losing ground in the race for promotion when they drew 0-0 against a resilient Birzebbugi­a St Peters side.

Zejtun Corinthian­s kept top place with a 1-0 victory over Siggiewi with the winning goal coming from Kumpei Tanaka after 20 minutes.

Swieqi United and St George’s shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Dylan Caruana put the Saints ahead from the penalty spot while Roderick Taliana equalised for Swieqi on 65 minutes also from the penalty spot.

In the Friday night match, San Gwann hammered relegation haunted Mellieha by five goals to nil at the Luxol Stadium. Nezar Abouiaishi­a opened the scoring followed by a hat trick by Williams Abeeb and an own goal.
