Marsa WS with first six

-

Marsa White Stars Barilla made sure to finish with the first six for the second phase of the MSV Life Masters League after beating TalQroqq.

Dingli and Rabat continued their positive run, piling points to strenghten their position in the standings.

Dingli Desana got three important points after beating the strong opposition of Zabbar Masters 5-4 in one of the main games.

The game had two different stories, with the first half being dominated by Dingli who went for the break with a good lead of 5-1.

But in the second 30 minutes, Zabbar were the better side and almost made it when they not only stopped their opponents’ rhythm but put great pressure on Dingli who had to defend to save the day.

Man of the match was Steven Aquilina who scored the four goals for Zabbar, and Malcolm Licari was again in a scoring mood getting four to go top in the list of the best scorers.

Rabat Cavette dominated Valletta to win 15-3. Fielding a depleted side, Valletta had to struggle throughout, with Rabat having a good game.

After leading 4-1 at half time, they maintained their superiority in the second period and scored no fewer than 11 goals with Chris Muscat being the star player, defending and breaking away to score. In all he got five goals.

Rabat continued with their positive streak. They have now registered only one loss from 9 games, while Valetta lost their chance of finishing with the first six for the second phase. Marsa White Stars Barilla secured their place with the first six for the second phase after beating Tal-Qroqq 7-5.

It is true they won but not after a scare with Tal-Qroqq having one of their best games making a great come back in the second half.

Marsa got the all important goal in the last five minutes. Man of the match was TalQroqq’s Danish goalkeeper Anders Lynderup who denied Marsa several times, especially in the first half.

This week there will be no league games as the Masters national team will be taking part in the Malta Cup tournament with the participation of nine foreign teams coming from Germany and Swizerland.
