Four-goal Cabral shines for Senglea

-

Senglea A. Sirens 6 1

Juninho Cabral was in outstanding form as he scored four of Senglea’s five goals against Sirens in a one way traffic affair. Cabral now increased his tally to 19 this season, becoming the league’s top scorer.

For Steve D’Amato’s side this was the second consecutive handsome victory after the 4-0 drubbing of Fgura as they move closer to the top positions and a place among the elite.

On 20 minutes Senglea took a deserved lead when Juninho Cabral headed beautifully home a Pablo Doffo freekick. Sirens only made a late reaction with Robert Vaduva going close on 36 minutes when he dribbled past two defenders but shot slightly over the bar.

Four minutes later Kane Farrugia slightly missed the upright with a precise lob, and on 43 minutes Senglea won a penalty when Pter Sammut was floored by Miguel Ciantar, and from the penalty spot Juninho Cabral scored his 17th goal of the season.

Sirens should have pulled one back on the resumption but Lee Grech missed a sitter in front of goal. Sirens paid dearly for this as Juninho Cabral notched his hat trick when he headed home from close range. Cabral’s goal festival was not over yet as on 59 minutes he was on the mark again with yet another header.

On 75 minutes Sirens were unlucky when a Miguel Ciantar freekick finished against the upright, but two minutes later the same Miguel Ciantar scored a consolation goal from close range. Seven minutes from time Senglea scored a fifth thanks to substitute Ryan Dalli and sixty seconds later Cabral went close again when he hit the post.

In stoppage time Terence Vella scored the sixth and final goal, arguably the best of the lot with a great shot from well outside the area.
