Zejtun promoted to First Division

Zejtun Corinthian­s achieved mathematic­al promotion when they easily beat Birzebbugi­a St Peters by three goals to nil. The goals came from: Kyle Buttigieg 1’, Anthony Ewurum 29 and Clayton Giordemain­a on 40’

Qrendi hammered Gudja United by seven goals to one at the Luxol Stadium to virtually guarantee their promotion status. Cleavon Portelli surprising­ly put Gudja ahead after 7’, but Qrendi roared back with goals from Tonio Damato 16’, Dhonathan Santos da Hora 38’, Clayton Caruana 41’, Giovanni Galea 51’, Dassier Sammut 62’ and Darrel Grech 65’.

Marsaxlokk eased their relegation worries somewhat when they beat St George’s by four goals to one at the Charles Abela Stadium. The goals came from: Andre’ Cassar 6’, Thomas Francis Grech 31’and 41’ (penalty) and Darren Sciberras 57’ for Marsaxlokk with St George’s scoring a consolatio­n goal through Dylan Caruana on 89 minutes.

Zabbar St Patrick managed to achieve mathematic­al promotion to the First Division with a slender 1-0 victory over Siggiewi with Shalon Diacono scoring the winning goal on 57 minutes.

San Gwann moved ever closer to mathematic­al promotion themselves with a 5-1 drubbing of neighbours Swieqi United. Yan Tanti opened the scoring on 27’ with Glendon Refalo equalising on 37’ from the penalty spot. But San Gwann roared ahead in the second half with Abeeb Williams scoring on 51’ also from a penalty and a hat trick by Sergio Hili on 65’, 69’, and 74’. Mellieha beat Mgarr United by two goals to one in a tight derby with goals from Christian Stewart 32’ and James Borg 51’ with J P Zammit on 71’ reducing the deficit for Mgarr.

In the Monday night match Ghaxaq sprang a surprise by defeating Attard by two goals to one at the Centenary Stadium. Goals from Florin Anton and Davide Mula put Ghaxaq 2-0 ahead in the first half with Firaz Aboulezz pulling one back for Attard a few minutes from time.
