Santa Lucia beat Msida in direct clash

In the agme of the weekend, Santa Lucia confirmed third place when they beat promotion rivals Msida St Joseph by two goals to nil. Gilbert Camilleri and George Schembri scored for Santa Lucia.

Xghajra Tornados and Mdina Knights returned to winning ways with identical 3-0 victories against Dingli Swallows and Ta’ Xbiex at the Centenary Stadium and Sirens Stadium respective­ly. Mdina won courtesy of a hat trick by Matthew Fenech who found the net on 65, 72 and 84 minutes, the latter from a penalty. Xghajra Tornados’s goals came from Noel Tabone on 61 minutes, Dylan Busuttil on 84 minutes and Gilbert Scicluna after 88 minutes.

Santa Venera Lightnings also returned to winning ways with a fine 3-1 victory over Zurrieq at the Charles Abela Stadium. Dylan Mercieca put the Saints ahead after 18 minutes with Danjel Vasic scoring a brace on 22 and 47 minutes to make it 3-0. Leontiv Konda scored a consolatio­n goal for Zurrieq on 52 minutes. Luqa St Andrew’s consolidat­ed their second place in the table with a comprehen- sive rout of bottom club Marsaskala by six goals to nil. The goals came from Leeroy Bonnett 16’, 60, George Falzon 24’, Jason Good 65’, Randolph Penza 78’, and Lee Baldacchin­o 79’

Kalkara also confirmed top spot with a 5-0 thrashing of Mtarfa at the Sirens Stadium with goals coming from Timmy Thomas 5’, 39’ (pen), Julian Spiteri 28’, Chris Cuschieri 72’, Ryan Sell 85’, 88’.
