Fgura settle for a draw

- Marsa: Fgura U:

Marsa Fgura U 1 1

Two goals inside the first half an hour decided this match between Marsa and Fgura. The result can be considered as a fair one even though Marsa had more of the ball and better scoring opportunities.

For Fgura this was an important point earned, even though Fgura badly needed the three points at stake to further reduce the gap from other relegation worried side Rabat Ajax.

Marsa were still on a high after their demolition of Vittoriosa Stars in their last outing, under the guidance of coach Ramon Zammit who made his debut.

The former Fgura coach found his former side as opponents yesterday, with Fgura immediately making it difficult for the Redblues as they forged ahead after barely three minutes play.

Cleaven scored a great goal from a distance completely deceiving goalkeeper Caruana. Marsa however quickly took control of the game and obtained the equaliser on the half hour when De Melo Lima headed home from close range.

Marsa had some good scoring opportunites on the resumption with substitute sakurai and Refalo testing the alert Bartolo.

Near the end of the game Fgura almost snatched the three points at stake with Warren Chircop denied by Caruana on 88 minutes, and two minutes later Chircop’s shot missed the upright by a whisker.
