Art auction for charity during Pink Floyd tribute concert
Four artists – Anna Nightingale, Emma Borg, Christopher Saliba and Mario Cassar have each offered a painting which will be “silent auctioned” during the “Dark Side over Gozo” rock orchestral concert. Proceeds will go towards Puttinu Cares and Arka Foundation.
Final preparations are underway for Cash & Band, The Gozo Youth Orchestra and the Schola Cantorum Jubilate Choir and with the initiative of Peter De Courcy, to put up a large-scale charity concert at the Aurora Opera House, the largest indoor performingspace venue in Gozo. The beneficiaries from the event are Puttinu Cares and ARKA, both very worthy causes amongst children and adult cancer patients and persons with disability respectively.
The show itself will be a rock orchestral tribute to the music of Pink Floyd. It will also feature a short tribute to Leonard Cohen as well as a well-known piece by none less than the great master Ludwig Van Beethoven.
Cash & Band, with John as their leader, are recognised as one of the most accomplished Pink Floyd tribute bands on the Maltese islands. The Gozo Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Joseph Grech, with their “Opera vs Pop Under the Stars” and “Stage and Proms on the Sea” annual concerts as their flagship events, are always eagerly up for new musical challenges and bring that enthusiasm to all their events. The Schola Cantorum Jubilate Choir, accompanying some of the pieces, is internationally recognised as one of the finest choirs in Europe. Their annual Carols by Candlelight concert is one of the most popular Christmas events on Gozo.
