‘Simon Busuttil cannot lead united party, definitely cannot lead united country’ – PM
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat believes that while Opposition leader Simon Busuttil fails to lead a united party, it is a clear sign that he cannot lead a united Malta.
Dr Muscat’s comments were made yesterday morning on One Radio. He praised his government for carrying out the ‘unprecedented’ move of fulfilling the party’s electoral manifesto.
“While previous governments would leave their manifesto on the shelf shortly after being elected, while others make excuses of why they cannot fulfil their pre-electoral promises, this government has made good on promises large and small,” he said.
Dr Muscat referred to allegedly false invoices issued showing payments made by db Group to the PN allegedly for media programme sponsorship, which came from a subsidiary providing meals for airlines.
He said that this confirms how Dr Busuttil is a false politician, using false invoices to sustain an illegal system, flying in the face of party financing law.
The Prime Minister highlighted how the Opposition has spent four years speaking about transparency and honesty, and said that the government has published all major contracts, and now the Opposition cannot even publish an invoice.
Prime Minister Muscat believes that Dr Busuttil has lost all credibility to speak about corruption.
Pedestrian bridge
A pedestrian bridge is being built across the Qormi/Mrieħel bypass, in order to connect residents of tal-Blat in Qormi to the town centre, Prime Minister Muscat revealed.
Residents had been complaining since the bypass built in the early 1990s was built, disconnecting them from the town centre.
Pressure was then turned up when two girls tragically lost their lives while attempting to cross the bypass in order to get home.
It has been reported that the structure will be made of anti-reflective steel, and furthermore fitted with metal perforated architectural screening, including a lift and solar panels.
