Division One

The much-anticipate­d top-of-thetable National League match between Kalkara St Joseph and Floriana Ajax A ended all square with both teams producing exceptiona­l play. Norbert Attard gave the visitors the lead winning the opening game but an immediate reply by the reds saw them winning three consecutiv­e games for a 3-1 lead at the midway point.

Wins for Kalkara coming through Kirsten Aquilna and Mario Aquilina in the singles and the same pair in the doubles. Floriana reduced the gap with Vincent Busutill winning the 5th game with Kalkara replying immediatel­y through Andy Keen to secure a point.

A late rally from the Greens saw them winning the last two games through David Attard in the singles and Vincent Busutill/John Ciantar in the pairs to secure a hard-fought point which keeps both teams leading the way on 44 points with only 3 matches left.

In other matches from the division Mosta Horseshoe Bar A defeated BBugia Cox Sports Club 6-2 and from the lower part of the table a 4-4 draw between Gudja POs Bar A and BormlaBocc­i Club meant that ZejtunBela­nd Bullseye move out of the relegation places after an 8-0 walk-over victory over ZejtunJuve­ntutisDomu­s.

Division Two

Hamrun Education Bar A produced a great performanc­e in defeating leaders Bugibba Munchies Pub 6-2 and now lead the way on 35 points, one ahead of Bugibba. A win for Senglea M. Conquest over Floriana Ajax B kept their promotion hopes alive as they now trail Munchies in second place by three points.

Division Three

Mosta Horseshoe Bar B went into gameweek 17 needing a point to be officially crowned champions and they did it in style by whitewashi­ng bottom side MgarrThe Hatch 8-0. Promotion contenders Bugibba Sun City and Hamrun Education Bar B both win hard fought matches against Mqabba St Mary BC and St Pauls Diamonds respective­ly.

RANKING TOURNAMENT VII Norbert Attard nets his second title

Norbert Attard claims his second title of the season at the Kalkara St Joseph ranking tournament after earlier in the season winning the Mqabba St Mary BC event. En route to the final, Attard swept past A.Scerri, S.Agius and A.Keen 3-0 and G.Stanmore 4-0 in the semi-final.

In the final he saw of the challenge of fellow Floriana Ajax team-mate, John Ciantar 5-3. This tournament was played in the honour of Charles Ghiller, one of the all-time best local darts players who left this world late last year.

The return leg from the quarter final stage in the 5 a-side cup competitio­n took place with Mosta Horseshoe Bar, Floriana Ajax A, Kalkara St Joseph and BBugia Cox Sports Club securing a place at the semi-final stage. All the scores from the scheduled matches were as follows:
