Comino Tower is open again

-

The Santa Marija Tower in Comino will be open again as from tomorrow until the end of October, Din L-Art Ħelwa has announced.

The NGO is urging the public to not only enjoy the experience of stepping back to the time of Grand Master Wignacourt, who built the tower in 1618, but also to take the opportunity to explore this gem of an island in its spring mantle of greens and yellows.

“There is so much more to enjoy on Comino beyond the dazzling Blue Lagoon. Din L-Art Helwa volunteers will be delighted to share with you their enthusiasm for the Tower and Comino,” DLH said.

The Comino Tower featured as Chateau D ’If in the 2002 film ‘The Count of Monte Cristo.’ There is also the Santa Marija Gun Battery, built in 1714, which stands sentinel over the Gozo Channel. This site is open at all times.

Comino Tower is normally open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays, when the flag is flying. Entrance is by donation; children are free. Group bookings can also be made by contacting Carolyn on 99051866 or carolync@maltanet.net. The tower is also a unique venue for a private function, team building or fund raising activity. Do enquire!

Whilst exploring Gozo, why not also visit Dwejra Tower and Ta’ Sopu Tower, Nadur, the latter being open on request. www.dinlarthelwa.org
