Synergies to be tested in PV-IES Double Handed race

The PV-IES Double Handed Race is a testing day on the water for any sailor yet it is an opportunity to assess their capabilities under pressure. Double Handed Racing is about pushing one’s stamina to the limits as there is no time for any breathing space.

Whilst a few crews opt to go for the traditional set–up of skipper and crew, in general both crew members choose to be co-skippers. By contrast, a fully crewed boat can come to a decision based on consensus whereas double-handers need to have a system in place to deal with a difference of opinion otherwise this can lead to friction within the team.

The PV-IES Double Handed Round Malta race will start the race from Marsamxett Harbour this morning at 8.55 and depending on weather conditions on the day, the Race Officer will decide whether crews will be heading South round Malta or sail North to go round Comino. Either way, in both instances crews will be required to return to Marsamxett Harbour in time for the midnight time limit.

This year’s race will be welcoming most of the crews who took part in last year’s edition as well as some new faces on the scenewho are all determined to challenge the tough course.
