ITF Under 18 tournament at Kordin club

Tennis Club Kordin, in association with the Malta Tennis Federation, is hosting another edition of the San Michel International ranking under 18 tournament.

This year the number of participants has exceeded the organisers’ expectations with a total of 393 boys and 238 girls.

This tournament is once again expected to present a very high level of the game of tennis with the participation of the highest ranked boy, Bastien Presuhn, from Germany , ranked 202 in the world, and the highest ranked girl Ksenia Domnina from Russia occupying the 258th place in the world.

The tournament has attracted players from all over the world namely Kazakhstan, Slovak Republic, Bosnia Herzegovina and Canada.

Malta will be represented in the boys’ category by three promising youngsters - Miguel Galea, Leim Delicata and Ben Farrugia while in the girls’ category Francesca Curmi who holds a ranking of 1884, Lightfoot Emily, Krysta Dimech and Rachel Grech Flores will be the country’s representatives.

The tournament will kick start with the qualifying rounds on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 April with the signing in for this draw being held on Friday 7 April.

The main draw will commence on Monday 10 April and will come to an end on Saturday 15 April. Players are to sign in for this draw on Sunday 9 April while the signing in for the doubles draw is to be held on Monday 10 April with matches starting as from Tuesday 11 April.
