Zebbug R 3 Gharghur 2

Tomislav Trebovac scored a brace for Zebbug in the second half as Zebbug turned the tide in their favour to beat relegation worried Gharghur 3-2 in an entertaining match.

Gharghur took the lead on 22 minutes when Luke Busuttil had a good run on the right flank and crossed towards Muda Fagbeja whose effort hit the upright but from the rebound the same Fagbeja fired in the top corner.

On 32 minutes the same Fagbeja blasted well over the bar from an ideal position.

Zebbug dominated the last part of the first half with Gharghur on the defensive.

On the resumption Zebbug continued to attack and were unlucky on 50 minutes when a Tomislav Trebovac freekick slammed against the upright. But five minutes later Trebovac was not to be denied when from another freekick he gave Valletta no chance to save.

On 57 minutes, Zebbug almost forged ahead but goalkeeper Valletta made a stunning save off a point blank header from Shawn Borg.

On the other end Azzopardi saved Zebbug with a great save off a Joshuel Azzopardi header.

On 69 minutes Gharghur were back in front when from a Busuttil corner, isaac Chircop headed towards goal and Carlo Gie with another header put the ball at the back of the net.

Gharghur’s joy was shortlived as five minutes later Zebbug drew level, when Valletta gave away a corner from which substitute Rodrigues Britto managed to slot home.

It was not over however as Zebbug scored the winner on 79 minutes when Trebovac pounced on a defensive lapse to beat Valletta with a fierce grounder.
