Massimo Cremona wins Open Gran Prix of Scotland

The past weekend, the FISTF Gran Prix of Scotland was held in the city of Glasgow.

The Maltese players did very well at this event as all four finished on the podium.

Massimo Cremona won the Open Category and Angelo Borg was finalist while in the Veterans category Joseph Mifsud took the title with Jason Pisani making it to the semis.

16 players took part in the Open category while 17 players took part in the veterans coming up from seven different nations.

All Maltese players won their respective groups easily.

In the Open Category the final was contested by the two Maltese players, Massimo Cremona and Angelo Borg.

In the semi finals Cremona had the better of Greece’s Dimos Tsompanidi­s 4-1, while Borg beat another Greek player, Giorgos Tsompanidi­s, 5-2. In the quarter final Cremona beat easily Scottish Baver Bari 7-0 and Borg defeated Mike Burns 4-0.

Joseph Mifsud triumphs in Veteran category

In the Veteran category, Joseph Mifsud had the better of Daniel Scheen beating him 2-1 with a golden goal.

In the semi final, Mifsud beat another Maltese player, Jason Pisani, 2-1 after golden goal as well. In the quarter finals Mifsud had the better of Martin Hodds 3-2 while Pisani saw off Brian Daley 3-1.
